In many homework assignments in this course, you will be plotting data. This homework question will help you get comfortable with plotting data using software. You may use any software you wish (Excel, MATLAB, ...). I usually use Excel to create my plots because I can change a cell and the plot immediately updates. Consider air in a room that has dimensions 4.35 m by 6.22 m by 3.46 m. The air pressure is 96.38 kPa. Calculate the mass of the air in this room and the viscosity of the air in this room as functions of temperature in the range 10 to 60C. Plot m (in units of kg) and (in units of kg/m s) as functions of 7 (in units of C). Use the ideal gas law for mass and use Sutherland's law for viscosity. Here and for all plots in this course, make sure your plots are clearly labeled and neat; do not simply use Excel's default settings (which are poor). You may plot two separate plots or you may put both curves on the same plot using primary (left) and secondary (right) vertical axes - your choice. An example of a nice plot is shown below from one of my other courses. Notice the variables and their units on the axes labels. Notice the use of both color and dashed lines. Notice the minor gridlines and the legend, etc., all of which make the plot pleasing to the eye and easy to read. Always create nice-looking plots. 2000 Temperature, T (K) 1800 1600 1400 Rayleigh equation 1200 Rayleigh flow 1000 800 600 400 200 0 0 500 1000 1500 2000 2500 3000 3500 4000 4500 Specific entropy, s (J/kg)
