In November 2020 Michigan attorney Gregory Rohl and nine other attorney's, each from a different state, signed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan seeking to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Michigan. A grievance was filed with the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission who ultimately imposed sanctions on all ten of the attorney's who signed the complaint ordering them to jointly pay attorney fees in the amount of $21,964.75 to the Governer of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer and the Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, and pay attorneys' fees in the amount of $153,285.62 to Intervenor Defendant City of Detroit. The formal complaint stated that they violated MRPC 3.1 among multiple Michigan Court Rules. Honestly, I don't feel that I can give an informed opinion on whether I agree with this outcome or not. So many different court rules and election rules went into this decision. However, I will say that politics had much to do with decisions made on this case and the decision to file a grievance to begin with." write a response to this classmate's discussion post
