In our reading this week, Pena explains that "If efforts aren't made to address the retention of institutional knowledge of Gen. X and Millennial employees, we could see a large gap in the continuity, and history that the earlier generational groups provided." In fact, Ashkenas suggests this is already happening: "As one colleague commented after visiting a long-time client that had gone through three mergers and multiple CEOs: "It feels like 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers.' The names of the department are all the same, but the people act differently." Choose one kind of institution, either your own workplace or in your community (town hall, town council, county government, parent-teacher organizations like the PTA, Little League, scouting organization, etc.) and explain how insitutional memory has or has not been maintained and the consequences of that. Why is it important that it is recorded somehow? How can insitutional memory best be stored or archived for that particular institution, especially if the leadership changes fairly frequently? Explain. Be creative, but also practical, and refer to at least one idea from each reading. In what way is institutional memory similar to or different than the history of larger issues such as we discussed
