In philosophy, it appears that Descartes has been given the credit for the phrase that assures some certitude as to man's existence. Now that you have read the issue as to Augustine and Descartes, whom do you believe deserves the credit? Why would the rationalist movement minimize Augustine? Make sure that you include support for your position ( the why). I have always wondered why Augustine had been dismissed.....perhaps you can opine why in your post as well
