Utilizing the P-O-L-C framework allows SAS to maximize productivity, employee engagement and maintain their competitive edge in attracting new qualified candidates. SAS exceeds in all areas of the P-O-L-C framework, as described below:
Planning: this pillar is best described as setting objectives and identifying ways to achieve those objectives. Jim Goodnight, SAS CEO, said that "maintaining a culture of trust... and a commitment to continuous innovation" were two of the core principles of the company (SAS, 2021). This demonstrates that SAS has their objectives set and has mastered the way to achieve their goals.
Organizing: organizing is making sure that the resources are allocated efficiently to achieve the company's objectives. Having a well-organized company allows for teamwork, collaboration, and employee enrichment and engagement. SAS offered multiple options to their employees during the pandemic ranging from career development seminars to online exercise classes.
