Hello,
The negotiation style is defined as how people approach negotiations, such as how they present their arguments, their responses to counterarguments, and how they handle their emotions. The effectiveness of different negotiation styles can differ depending on the context, so knowing which style works best for you is crucial.
This case was an example of competitive negotiating since the salesman offered better prices and features to convince the customer to buy the car. As opposed to the customer, who offered to negotiate a lower price, the customer was using a cooperative negotiating style. Collaboration would have been the most appropriate type of negotiation style in this scenario, where both the customer and the salesman work together to reach an agreement. It would have been beneficial to both parties to engage in this type of negotiation since the salesman could make a sale and the customer could get the car they wanted at a fair price. As well as maintaining a high level of trust and respect, this negotiation style would have allowed both parties to stay on the same page during negotiations.
