Hello everyone,

My name is Amanda, I am from New York City and work in the healthcare field as an administrative assistant. I am currently working on my bachelors degree in business administration with a concentration in project management. In the workforce, I have not yet had a vast amount of experience with project management, but I do aspire to complete the project management certification. The type of career change that I am hoping to achieve from administrative assistant to manager or director favors a certification in project management, so I do have full intentions of completing the necessary certifications in project management.

Project management concepts apply to my career and work goals, as change is constantly ongoing throughout the healthcare field, making the concepts and skills of project management necessary. Whether the project is large or small, it is important to have a clear understanding of the project scope, allowing you to organize the tasks, and remain on schedule and within budget while working cohesively throughout the project life cycle with team managers. A specific project that I was part of was the upgrading of all workstations within our reading room. We were given a budget and timeline, as well as our in-house department to order the devices from. It was important to ensure that the transition from old to new workstations would be planned out seamlessly to avoid disruptions in patient care, this involved consistent communication with all parties involved. Its important for the project manager to know the vendors/managers involved and to keep everyone informed and updated on the steps taken and steps to follow. The skills I learned in my previous project management course helped me organize and assign tasks while communicating efficiently and professionally to ensure that the project was fulfilled without any delays or errors.
