In terms of legislation and case law, how can the High Court explain the functions, powers and responsibilities of the President in respect of Thabiso Montshiwa and Tladi Monthiwa: In 2017 the Commission on Traditional Leadership Disputes and Claims made a determination that Thabiso Montshiwa is entitled to be the Queen of the Barolong in the North-West Province, whilst the incumbent King Pule Montshiwa was still on the throne. The latter contemplated to take this decision on judicial review, but due to ill-heath he passed on before taking action. This event prompted the Barolong royal family to identify Pule's son, Tladi Monthiwa, as the King of the Barolong
