In the 17th century Massachusetts Bay Colony was mostly populated by Calvinist English people who were not very tolerant of other religions. Anne Hutchinson started preaching that people are saved by believing in Jesus and that is the only way to be saved, apparently in contrast to what other ministers preached (?).
