In the country, Sindbad, a king named Jahangir ruled for almost 30 years. He was an extremely lovable and caring king whom people not only obeyed but revered. Jahangir was becoming old and he wanted to anoint his eldest son as the king designate ofSindbad. He discussed the prospects with his council. All the members of the council advised the king to let prince, Shabd, seek approval of the holy emerald. Holy emerald,a stone, believed to be left in Sindbad by Gods and anyone desirous to rule Sindbad was required to seek blessing of holy emerald by holding it in one's right hand. It was believed that the approval of holy emerald would come in the form of thunderstorm, lightening and intense rain after an individual who desires to be a king holds the holy stone in one's hand. In the history of last 500 years, without any exception, the same phenomenon occurred every time during the selection of a new king. However, it was important that this ceremony must be performed during the full moon night otherwise it was defective and had to be performed again

The king Jahangir arranged for theceremony to take place on the 30th day from the day his ministers advised him to let the prince undergo the divineemeraldstone test. Rehman, one of the ministers from the king's counsel, had long nurtured a deep desire to become the king after Jahangir and he was deeply disappointed at this decision. Rehman was a wicked individual who would always torment people for no reason. Rehman planned a breach in the cave on the same night where the divine stone was kept.It was coincidentally a full moon night. On the fateful night, Rehman along with his trusted allies, breached the cave and held the divine emerald in his right hand. The touch of his skin with the divine emerald was followed by a strong thunderstorm, lightning, and intense rain. The king Jahangir on noticing this, intuitively senseda breach, and rushed to the cave where divinestone was preserved.

The king after reaching the cave saw the divine stone in the hands of Rehman and was aghast. He asked him to keep it back, and Rehman followed Jahangir's orders. Some of the advisors bowed before Rehman addressing him as the new king while the others were confused on how to interpret the series of events. Jahangir knew that in the culture of Sindbad, there was no tradition of undoing the divine act. Hence, if any individualhas obtained the blessing of the divineemerald, then he would continue to betheking for one's entire life.

Jahangir was evidently appalled at this entire fiasco; and he issued an order thereby annulling this entire ceremony of Rehman's approval by the divine emerald to be Sindbad's new king.
