In the diagram below we have the representation of a hexagonal prism in the orthogonal system xyz, of origin O and x, y and z axes as indicated in the diagram. The base of the prism is the hexagon (non-regular) A1B1C1D1E1F1, with its vertices being the points of the xy plane with coordinates (in the xyz orthogonal system) as indicated in the figure on the left.

The prism is 3 units high, so points designated by the same letter and consecutive indices are separated by one unit of length in the z-axis direction. For example, as A1 = (?1, 0, 0), we have A2 = (?1, 0, 1), A3 = (?1, 0, 2) and A4 = (?1, 0, 3).
