In the experiment, 8 plots were identified in a large field of alfalfa. The plots were planted with corn, and each plot was divided into two equal subplots. Within each plot, one of the two subplots was randomly assigned to be treated with the biological control; the other subplot was assigned a standard chemical treatment.
