In the small village of Stechelberg in the Swiss Alps there is a power station operating on water power. The water is being collected from a wide reservoir and runs through a pipe, called a "penstock", to the generators. The penstock has a diameter of 75cm. The elevation between entrance and exit of the penstock is 250m. Immediately after passing through the generators the water flows into a wide canal. A volumetric flow rate of v=1.03m3/s runs through the power station. As a consequence of friction the temperature of the water just before the generators is 4.5103C higher than at the intake of the penstock. There is no heat exchange with the surroundings. (a) Calculate the pressure just before the generators (b) Calculate the electric power of the power station assuming 100% efficiency
