In this assignment we want to analyze the mortality rate of different regions in the world. Specifically, we will use the data file Mortality2005.xlsx to answer the following questions: What are the average mortality rate of the 6 regions in the world for men and for women? Note that you could compute the average for each region, or a 95% confidence interval for the mean for each region. Decide which one would be more appropriate and explain your choice. Note that you could use Excel for this , but since you need to group your answers by World Health Organization (WHO) region, it will be easier to use StatCrunch. Recall that to compute a 95% confidence interval in StatCrunch, you select "Stat | Z Stat | 1 sample | With data", then pick the variables to analyze, set the grouping variable, if necessary, and choose the radio button to perform a "Confidence Interval for the mean". Provide your answer(s) in an easy-to-read format such as a table with min and max value for each confidence interval (if you decide on using confidence intervals) or the average for each region (if you decide on using the actual averages). Provide two sets of answers, one for men, the other for women. How would you go about combining the answers, i.e. show the average for each population, regardless of men or women? Could you even do this with the information provided? Compare the different answers. Which region has the highest, which the lowest life expectancy? What about men versus women's life expectancy? Try to explain the regional differences in a few speculative sentences.
