2 post)). Social media has been used in multiple emergencies in a variety of ways. It can help when trying to spread awareness in a time of crisis and help reach and educate people on a massive level. Social media can also be used to help in times with missing persons. One big thing that social media has put its hand in is the use of Amber alerts. Since the creation of amber alerts police have even adapted to using social media in finding all sorts of missing persons. This has proven to have a bigger impact in fact "Before social media, spreading the word about the missing was hampered by limited outreach to those in direct position to help. Amber Alerts were mainly broadcasted on television, radio, and on highways. Distribution of missing posters was also limited, only displayed in communities in which the individual was last seen and or lived." (Santana, Social media's Role in Finding the Missing) Basically social media has increased the efforts of emergency services which in turn has increased positive outcomes for victims and their families.
