Analyze your classmates' strategies for conveying the company's mission, vision, or values to key stakeholders. Which strategies do you think are most effective, and which ones would you change or revise?
What similarities or differences if any do you see between the mission, vision, or value statements of the company you analyzed and the companies your peers analyzed?
~Briefly summarize the company's mission, vision, or values statements. In your own words, what do you think is the overarching purpose behind these statements?
In Toyotas Mission statement, it seems that their goal is to obtain customers who value their products and services because their products and services are of high quality. Overall, they want a good experience for their customers, and they want their customers to be proud Toyota owners. Their vision statement is clear and to the point. Their goal is to be the most successful and respected car company in America.Toyota After searching more on Toyotas website, they go into further detail on what their mission, vision, and values are all about. They have a Beyond Zero Vision program dedicated to reaching what they call beyond carbon neutrality, where the goal is to positively impact the environment by offering low or noemission vehicle options. They also have a program called the Toyota Effect, where their goal is to create a culture and community that embraces diversity and Inclusion. Toyota has other programs dedicated to strengthening the community and Toyota employee careers as well. I believe the overarching purpose of these statements is to let stakeholders know that their top priority is to be successful by selling many vehicles and making sure they have repeat customers because those customers were satisfied with their experience. Also, because Toyotas vision statement is so bold, I believe their goal is to let stakeholders know they are serious about these goals.
~What are some specific ways a company could communicate its mission, vision, or values to both internal and external stakeholders? Explain and give examples.
The first and most obvious way to communicate a companys mission, vision, and values to both internal and external stakeholders would be through mass media channels. This would include their website, social media, radio commercials, television commercials, etc. Toyotas website does just that. They have an entire section on their website dedicated to their mission, where you can click and learn more about how they are doing things to support those missions and values. On Toyota's Facebook page, they not only share photos and features of their vehicles, but they have video commercials about supporting the environment with choosing their vehicles and positive stories about Toyota customers. Another way to communicate those things to internal stakeholders would be to train employees during their hiring and onboarding introduction into the company. Other ways the company can continue to implement these values and cultivate the company culture would be to include them in meetings or have posters or brochures available in the breakroom. It is important to be consistent with this information to ensure that employees understand and hopefully align with these visions and mission statements. Other than websites and social media pages, different ways that a company could communicate with external stakeholders would be blogs, newsletters, and email campaigns. A company may have to consider creative ways to share these ideas consistently. For example, they could also hold special events, presentations, or workshops to communicate with external stakeholders.
~How do you think the role of the mission and vision statements influence and gain employee buyin
I think the role of the mission and vision statements are extremely influential over the gain or loss of employee buyin but more important will be whether a company implements and holds to those values. Anyone can come up with a nicesounding mission statement, but if it is not acted upon, a company can lose the respect of its employees. Depending on how the company presents itself combined with the company culture will determine if an employee feels empowered or valuable within that company. With a healthy company culture, employees will feel comfortable engaging in and supporting that company, allowing for an overall, more successful business.
