In your role as School Learning Support Officer (SLSO), you have been asked by Oliver and Emma's teachers to contribute to their learning support needs in the next meeting with the Learning Support Team. Oliver and Emma have very different learning support needs, so you will need to carefully read their profiles, which include some observations.

Student notes: | Age: 12 Class: 6 Diagnosis: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder When Oliver is in in these situations. He has been formally diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia. When teachers and other students attempt to provide feedback to Oliver he can react with hypersensitivity. Oliver provides support to peers in class who are known to him however he is still learning to initiate, establish and maintain friendships. When outside during breaks he is often seen alone without any peers around him. He will often go to the library and use the computers until class returns. There are concerns for his emotional well-being and self-esteem. This has also been raised in discussions with his parents. He normally loves engaging in sports however Oliver has started losing interest in this. On two recent occasions he asked to sit out in football games in PE, and his parents report that he does not wish to attend his normal basketball training and games at the moment. |
