As discussed in class, Emotional Intelligence (EQ) can help us understand how some people are better at leading than others even if they have the same training. In this discussion you are required to take an EQ test and discuss your results and outline your plan to improve your EQ.

Introduction: Your answer must include research explaining the concepts behind Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and its common use in organizations. You need to explain the 4 components of EQ and how they relate to each other to provide an overall score, supported with proper citations and references per APA. (5 marks)

Assessment Score: Attach screen shot or post your score. Be sure to indicate your score for all of the 4 components. For this test the maximum score you can obtain for each quadrant is 10. (2 marks)

Explanation of your results including:

Using your own words supported with external resources, cited and referenced, provide a general description of your results. (3 marks)

Identify & explain at least 2 benefits of your score for leading others. (4 marks)

Identify & explain at least 2 challenges of your score for leading others. (4 marks)

(Be sure that you make clear connection to leadership concepts covered to date, cited and referenced.)

Improving EQ:

Provide evidence from external resources to demonstrate the possibility of improving EQ. Be sure to explain in detail what steps your research suggests, cited and referenced. (4 marks)

Outline your own plan for improving your EQ to become a more effective leader. Your plan should include both concepts and specific actions you will take to improve your own leadership skills as defined in the course. (4 marks)

Respond to at least 2 other posts with different social or self scores: (4 marks)

Comment and compare on how your improvement plan is similar or differs from others. Your answer should include details about how you can help each other improve.

Total: 30 Marks

Each discussion post is worth 10% of your total grade.
