Assignment #7-1 Purpose: In this assignment, students will pull together the analysis and selections theyve conducted throughout the class, in terms of a healthcare organization, the quality issue in that organization and the continuous improvement process and aligned performance improvement tools used to mitigate that quality issue. Using a white paper, they will recommend to that organization the Continuous Improvement Model and the Performance Improvement Tools to mitigate that quality issue and to measure and monitor progress in that mitigation. Assignment #7-1 Description: In this assignment, you will bring together the work youve done throughout the class and develop a recommendation for the organization you identified in Assignment #2-1. In a white paper format, you will use what you suggested as a continuous improvement process and associated performance improvement tools (in Assignment #6-1) to mitigate the quality issue(s) you identified in Assignment #4-1.

You will also need to select and then depict how the performance improvement tools will measure and monitor the progress being made in that improvement process and quality issue mitigation. You must select from one of the following continuous improvement processes (see pro and con sheet attached). First, check what your organization uses in their Quality Department. If they use Lean-Six Sigma, then you should use that. Otherwise, select from the following. Rapid Cycle Improvement PDSA/PDCA FOCUS PDCA FADE Lean Six Sigma Lean-Six Sigma Your organization's hybrid model. Some organizations develop their own process. If they have one, and you can identify and describe it, use it. You must also suggest at least three improvement tools to use in your process. (See guide attached). These can be either quantitative or qualitative. Quantitative would be things like a line graph that shows improvement on your key metric over time. Qualitative could be a stakeholder analysis or fishbone (cause and effect) diagram. You must show your suggestion. If you suggest a trend analysis, show a line graph. If you suggest a 5 Why's, use the 5 Why's Template and integrate it into your paper as an example. You will be using these as examples. The paper should not suggest solutions, so you can't define what something like a fishbone or 5 Why's will look like. However, you should include graphs and tables (3 total) somewhere in your document. REMEMBER: You can't track progress unless you have DATA. The foundation of any improvement model is DATA. I have included three examples that students wrote in previous years. You can use these as examples, and you can find them in the Lecture and Instructional Content folder in Week 7, or by clicking here. Follow the general requirements and instructions to complete your writing assignments: Your paper should be at least eight (8) to ten (10) pages in length.
