Just like I talked about in the case analysis for hand out two, I have been a manager before and have had to figure out what kind of manager I want to be. After looking at the Blake and Mouton's managerial grid, I can pick out that I have been a middle of the road manager. I enjoy getting to know my co-workers and their backgrounds, but I also put an emphasis on getting the job done. Another category I believe I could put myself in is a high-quality leader-member exchange (LMX). The handout states that LMX relationships are, "characterized by greater input in decisions, mutual support, informal influence, trust, and greater negotiating latitude." (Wrench et al., 2015b, p. 16). In my opinion, I give a lot of mutual support to my co-workers and a space where they can trust to come to me when they need to talk to someone. I also enjoy inputting my opinions and decisions into a conversation to ensure that my ideas are heard and understood. My goal once I go into my profession is that I can be a leader to those around me. This handout brought light to what kind of leader I strive to be and how I can achieve that.
