Project 1 - Case Study

Choose one of these Practicing International Management cases from the text:

A Tale of Two Cultures (Ch 2, page 71)

Pirates of Globalization (Ch 3, page 103)

Cuba Comes Off Its Sugar High (Ch 4, page 131)

First in Asia and the World (Ch 5, page 155)

World Class in the Deep South (Ch 7, page 199)

Read the case you choose, including the Thinking Globally questions at the end of the case. Then write a 900 to 1200-word paper addressing all of the questions for your chosen case. Your paper should not simply be a list of answers to each question. Instead, write a well-organized paper that addresses/analyzes the broader topic of the case, and integrates the answers to the questions as a part of the paper. In other words, every question must be answered within your paper, but do not simply devote a page or paragraph to each question.

The ideas proposed or discussed in your paper must be informed by reliable sources. Your paper must back up claims, ideas, etc. with at least four references, including at least one reference from each of:

1. Academic journal(s) specializing in an aspect of international business. Examples: International Journal of Management Reviews, Journal of Economic Issues, Far East Economic Review, Transportation Research, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, etc.

2. Business trade publication(s) Examples: Business Communications Review, Managing Intellectual Property, Food & Drink Technology, Southeast Farm Press, Airline Business, Air Cargo World, Rubber & Plastics News, Automotive News, etc.

3. General business publication(s) Examples: Business Week, Fortune, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Commerce, Wall Street Journal, business sections of newspapers, etc.

You are welcome to include additional references, but the four references described above are required. All references must be listed in the (APA style) reference list at the back of your paper, and there must be at least one (APA style) citation of an idea and/or a direct quote for each reference.

The paper should use APA style for spacing, page formatting, section headings, citations and reference list. You do not need to include a title page, abstract, or other APA style conventions useful for longer papers.
