Background and Objectives: The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the concepts and techniques that are utilized in intreprenership. The student will gain insight into the complex and interdependent variables involved in developing successful intrepreneurial strategies and skills by researching real world applications of the concepts we cover in class. The purpose of this assignment is to have the student research, analyze, and comment on current intrepreneurial issues and concepts. Learning Objectives: . To use current on-line and hard copy publications/sources to research current intrepreneurial issues and topics. . To read the article/review the video, podcast, develop an understanding of the concepts/issues discussed, and summarize the article/video/podcast in a manner that demonstrates said understanding. . To provide a personal commentary on what was learned from the article/video/podcast, and how it applies to the topics discussed in the course. Overview of the Assignment: This assignment will be completed with a partner. As stated above, one of the goals of this course is to introduce you to many of the concepts that are employed in intrapreneurship. You should be reading/watching/listening to a variety of media to understand what intrepreneurial issues are. This assignment will require you to select 2 articles/videos/podcasts from an assortment of sources on the subject matter of the course, and assemble them into a Current Media Review (CMR). You will be required to "analyze" the articles/videos/podcasts, as well as to provide a commentary on the them. Specific Assignment: 1. Select 2 current articles/videos/podcasts to include in your CMR. If you have any questions about the acceptability of an article/video/podcast you are thinking of using, please come and check with me before you proceed. The articles/videos/podcasts must be current - only published/released in 2015- 2020 will be acceptable. If you include one that does not meet these timelines, marks will be deducted. Your articles/videos/podcasts can be selected from a credible source 2. The article/video/podcast must be clearly referenced as to its source. Your report should be prepared using APA guidelines. 3. For each article/video/podcast, you will: a) Include the article as an appendix to the main body of your report, or the link to the media source, and reference the appendix clearly within the body of your report. Page 1 of 3 b) Write a 1 page brief that summarizes the main point/concept/topic of the article/video/podcast. c) Write a 2 page brief that explains how this article/video/podcast is relevant to 2 of the topics/concepts we cover in our course. As you prepare this part of your brief, please provide the specific page reference from the text or other course resources that covers your chosen topic(s). d) Write a 1 page brief that explains how this article/video has increased or expanded your understanding of the chosen topic(s). e) Write a 1 page brief that describes your opinion of the article/video/podcast. You will indicate whether you liked or disliked it; whether you thought it was a "good" or "poor" source; whether you felt the it was effective or ineffective with the intended business audience. NOTE: As you address points c), d), and e) above, you must provide supporting rationale for each of your answers. You MUST explain to me the "Why" behind each of your answers. 4. Your submission should include a cover page that contains the appropriate information. 5. Your submission should include a table of contents that contains the appropriate information. 6. Your report will be typed (word-processed); in a minimum of a 12-point size using a standard typeface (Arial, Courier, Times Roman as examples); and must be double- spaced
