Introduction to the Design Problem The assignment's aim is to design a perception timer that measures the time for a user to respond to a request to complete a simple task. Perception times are important for assessing the ability of a driver on our roads to respond to emergency breaking conditions for example. To keep things simple we use a basic reading, processing, action planning and implementation task as follows: A hexadecimal A, B, C, D, E or F is displayed and the user reads the number, works out which 4 bit binary code to set and then slides the switches SW[3:0] into their correct positions orn the DE2 board. The time from displaying the hexadecimal number until the switches are set correctly is then displayed in milliseconds. Should a wrong switch be set to 1 or the user does not respond, an error is shown instead of the time.
