Write a brief introduction - briefly describe your assignment and tasks.basic understanding of the subject. This may include historical context,
relevant definitions, or key concepts.
Clearly state the main purpose or objective of your assignment
Task planning and system design changes
1.1. Project Plan
At the start of the task, create a short project time plan/Gantt chart and use it to
monitor your progress throughout the rest of the task and make any
adjustments as required.
1.2. System Design Changes
You need to provide evidence of how anCustomer Brief: Autonomous Robots for Care Homes
Scenario: You work as an apprentice in a company that specialises in implementing
autonomous mobile robot applications in care homes. Your supervisor has asked you to
develop an autonomous mobile robot to complete an activity as defined below:
Introduction: The company specializes in the development of autonomous mobile
robots for various industries. They are pleased to present their proposal for the use
of autonomous mobile robots in care homes.
Problem: Care homes often struggle with staff shortages, which can impact the
quality of care provided to residents. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has
highlighted the need for contactless delivery of goods and services to minimize the
risk of infection transmission. These challenges have created a need for a solution
that can assist staff and provide residents with necessary services without human
contact.
Solution: The companys proposal is to implement autonomous mobile robots in
care homes to assist staff and provide residents with necessary services. The robots
can be programmed to perform a variety of tasks, including:
1. Delivery of meals, medication, and other supplies to residents' rooms
without the need for human contact.
2. Provide cleaning services to residents' rooms
3. Monitoring of residents' vital signs, such as blood pressure and heart
rate, and alerting staff if there are any abnormalities.
4. Providing companionship to residents, such as through conversation or
playing games.
Benefits: The implementation of autonomous mobile robots in care homes can
provide numerous benefits, including:
1. Improved quality of care for residents, as the robots can provide timely
and accurate services without human error.
2. Increased efficiency and productivity, as the robots can perform tasks
quickly and without the need for breaks or rest.
3. Reduced risk of infection transmission, as the robots can deliver goods
and services without human contact.
4. Improved staff satisfaction, as the robots can assist with tasks and
alleviate some of the workload.
Conclusion: The company believe that the implementation of autonomous mobile
robots in care homes can provide a valuable solution to the challenges faced by care
homes. Therefore, the company has requested a prototype autonomous mobile
robot that will, as a minimum:
A. Detect obstacles and autonomous navigate around them.
B. Autonomous navigate safety from one location to another within a room.
C. Autonomous navigate safety back to the base station or charging station.
In developing the prototype system, you should consider enhanced user experiences
and how it would deal with any unexpected events that may occur
Produce a specification for the activity - this must include
the purpose, usability and performance requirements for
the AMR, plus any relevant details about additional control
hardware/circuitry.
Generate a design for a control program to complete the
activity - the high level program solution, for example
using a flowchart and/or pseudocode, must show the key
areas of functionality (inputs, outputs and processes) and
how they link together with explanatory commentary.
Build and program an AMR safely to complete the activity
safely, successfully and efficiently using a microcontroller
or microprocessor and at least two input and two output
devices - the control program must contain a range of
well structured programming constructs and techniques
that are appropriate for the activity and have been set-up
correctly, and a suitable algorithm to control locomotion.
Annotate the control program appropriately to explain
how the program works so it is easy to interpret.
Test the AMR throughout the development process and
compare the functionality of it against the purpose,
usability and performance requirements and record the
outcomes of the tests - ensure that you correct any
hardware and software faults identified and make any
hardware and/or software changes that will improve the
performance of the robot, and then update your
specification accordingly. Please Please Include these subheading and DESCRIBE USING THE BRIEF TO CRETE A SPECIFICATION FOR IT
