Investigate the causes of devaluations or deprecation of the Turkish lira and the Egyptian pound

Objective: This exercise is to plot the performance of the Turkish lira and the Egyptian pound against the U.S. dollar and investigate the causes of devaluations or depreciation of these two currencies.

Requirements:

1. Please use the Pacific Exchange Rate Service to plot the performance of the Turkish lira and the Egyptian pound in the period of 01/01/1985 - 09/30/2017. The web address of the Pacific Exchange Rate Service is: http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/plot.html. This website is managed by Professor Werner Antweiler of the University of British Columbia.
2. For the base currency in the drop-down menu, please select U.S. Dollars. The target currency will be Turkish New Lira or Egyptian Pound in each of your searches. Please choose the following settings to make a chart:

Time Horizon: Exact Time Period,

Start Date: January 1, 1985,

End Date: September 30, 2017,

Data Frequency: Monthly average,

Notation: Volume Notation,

Output Format: PDF (letter),

Moving Average Curve: Do not show,

Extra Feature: None. You can click on "Make Chart" to plot the graph and save the chart to your computer. Please see the example in the screenshot attached.

1. From the charts, you will find significant devaluations or depreciation of the Turkish lira in 2001, and in the recent period of 2014-2017. The devaluations or depreciation of the Egyptian pound occurred in 2002, 2013, and 2016-2017. Please find the causes of devaluations/deprecation of these two currencies in these time periods. Simply keyword search, such as Turkish lira, and you will find a lot of related articles. In a Word file, please describe the causes of devaluations/deprecation in three to four sentences for each currency in these time periods. please describe your own words.
