Is beneficiary's interest in discretionary trust considered as beneficial ownership arising from normal trust relationship?

I am just wondering how can the beneficiary in discretionary trust clearly point to the trust that he or she has ownership interest in. If thats the case, isnt the right that they have is a chose in action (Right to hold trustee accountable) rather than a property right (as per ownership interest)?
