iSeeIt!: Job Characteristics Model
It is common knowledge that a motivated workforce is a productive workforce. Why is that? Motivation is what drives, energizes, and controls behavior. As a manager, you need a toolkit that will help you build a highly motivated workforce. The Job Characteristics Model of motivation provides managers with a framework on how to design jobs that will motivate their employees. The focus of this model is building jobs that create intrinsic motivation or rather jobs that offer internal reward such as satisfaction, enjoyment, and a sense of accomplishment.
This activity is important because it allows students to better understand the Job Characteristics Model by breaking it down into different parts.
The goal of this activity is to demonstrate your understanding of how characteristics of a job lead to higher (or lower) levels of motivation. Your mastery of this topic will be tested through a series of multiple-choice questions following the video.
