Question:
It has been a week since you found the island. Life is flowing smoothly and you and your fellow refugees have begun to establish the foundation of your new nation. During this week you have noted two major developments:
1. Your island has five employers on the island. Everybody of age is employed. 2. While exploring the surrounding area, you discover two inhabited islands relatively close to your own. After collecting information from the island's inhabitants, you learn that: a. The closest island, ClemCock, is a flourishing land full of opportunity. The inhabitants are educated, employed, and face thriving conditions similar to your own. ClemCock is technologically advanced and has a long established government. b. Another close-by island, BuckBadgerton, falls on the other side of the spectrum. It is impoverished and lacks a sustainable government. Living conditions are so poor that many of its inhabitants intend to emigrate, and are looking to your island as a possible sanctuary. The inhabitants of this island are plagued with disease and illness. Given this new information and information provided last week: 1. What will be your overall national health philosophy and policy? 2. What will be your roles (as the government) in the delivery of health care? 3. Will employers play a role in your healthcare system? If so, how? 4. Will insurance companies play a role in your healthcare system? If so, how? 5. How will hospitals and physicians be reimbursed for care? 6. How will you ensure continued prosperity on your island?
