It is desired to obtain oil from an oilseed containing 20% oil in a counter flow leaching system with 600 kg/h pure benzene at 1000 kg/h flow rate. In the downstream leaving the last stage, the oil mass fraction with respect to the solid-free basis is 0.06. It is assumed that the overhead stream does not contain inert solids, and the oil fraction in the solvent carried by the solid is the same as the upstream. Experimental equilibrium data are given below. Calculate the required theoretical number of stages and the amount of top and bottom product and the oil recovery rate.
