It is important for administrators of human services to know that not all individuals in the poor group are just "living off the government" and doing nothing to change their positions. There are a lot of individuals receiving these benefits who work full time or even work several jobs. "Many hardworking Americans, convinced that welfare recipients are lazy and/or immoral people, bitterly resent paying tax money to support them" (Burger, 2018). Many receiving these benefits hold a job and are also paying taxes. It is also not easy having several children and up holding full time hours when you calculate in low income plus the cost of child care for one or more child(ren). Some are working hard to provide but just simple do not make enough money to keep up with the inflation that is happening especially now. Housing costs are astronomical. Food cost are astronomical. Healthcare costs are astronomical. It is hard in this day and age to afford everything. It is important for administrators to know that not every situation is the same and that many are ashamed of even needing these benefits when they are working and trying to get themselves and their families out of
