It is year 2050 and a large number of humans have relocated to Mars. Given that the process of building a large-scale network infrastructure on Mars is still underway, we have an SDN controller that is located on earth and this controller coordinates with SDN capable network elements (e.g., routers, switches) that are located on Mars. More and more network elements are added to the SDN-capable network on Mars over time. We assume that the flow table of each network element on Mars is initially empty. The humans on Mars will be communicating with each other through these SDN-capable network elements. We assume that each network element on Mars has a slow and potentially lossy connection to the SDN controller on earth (and vice versa). You are in charge of maintaining this network on Mars.
