Item 5 of 6

Bill, a fruit grower, leases a house to Ian a fruit picker, until the end of the fruit crop in 2015, or at the end of the harvesting period or as otherwise agreed. Their agreement is a verbal one and contains no provisions about their rights and responsibilities. However they agreed that at the end of the lease they will fix a fair and reasonable rent. The fruit crop is destroyed by a freak storm and there is no fruit picking to be done. Bill sacks Ian and the other fruit pickers, and tries to evict Ian from the house. Ian is now unemployed, and with nowhere else to live, decides to stay in the house.

Advise Bill and Ian about enforcing their legal positions.
