Jane is an eight-year-old third grader who cries every day when her mother drops her off at school. She suffers from extreme anxiety whenever she is away from her mother because she fears that her mother may leave and never come back or could get into an accident and die. Jane frequently expresses concerns about getting lost or being kidnapped when she is away from her mother. She experiences nightmares multiple times a week and begs her mother to allow her to spend the night in mom's room. Jane complains of headaches, stomachaches, and nausea when getting ready for school in the morning. Finally, she sometimes calls mom from the school nurse's office with complaints that she is not feeling well and asks mom to pick her up. Based on the example, suggest two target behaviors for intervention that are observable, can be operationally defined, and can be measured repeatedly over time. For each target behavior, include an example operational definition and suggest how it might be measured.
