The other investment under considention is a highly rated corporate bond that currently seils for $1,000 and pays annual interest at a rate of 5.0%, or $50.00 por $1,000 invested. Afler 10 years, these bonds will be repaid at par, or $1,000 per $1,000 invested. Assuma that the Consalvos keep the income from their invostments but do not reinwest it (they kisep the cash in a non-interest-bearing bank account). They will, howover, need to pay income taxos on their liwostment income, if they buy the stock, they will soll it affer 10 years. If they buy the bonds, in 10 years they will got back the amount they investod. The Consailvos are in the 35% tax bracke. (Note: The tax rate on dividends for the Consalvos will be 15% and your calculations should ignore the 3.8% tax on investrnent income that was part of the Allordable Care Act. a.
