Design a series pass-transistor regulator as shown in Figure D2, which produces a constant regulated output voltage of 5V. The voltage from an unregulated power supply may vary from 8V to 12V. A slow sinusoidal waveform can be used to simulate the unregulated power supply. The required maximum load current is 500 mA. (b) (c) (d) (e) Design the regulator by calculating the required Zener voltage, V and the resistance, R and load resistance, R. Choose a suitable power transistor and Zener diode for this design. You can search from the LTSPICE components list under each category Simulate the design with full load using LTSPICE. (2 marks) Perform the DC operating point simulation and list all the DC values at the circuit. Perform the transient analysis simulation and show the input and output voltage waveforms (unregulated and regulated voltages) and also the output current waveform of your circuit and comment on your results. (3 plots) Determine the line regulation (at full load) with variation on Vs based on the results found from the waveforms in part (e). Simulate and determine the load regulation (Note: no load means you may simulate using load resistance of 10Meg (a very high impedance). Note: Approximate all components to the nearest values given in Appendix A and use those values in the simulation. Unregulated power supply R Figure D2
