Jeffrey Junior has recently been appointed as Credit Control Manager of Bank BCD. His contract stipulates that the Bank shall pay his rental to a value of P15,000 per month. Jeffrey contacts his friend, Brian, who has a beautiful house in Phakalane and has recentlv advertised it for rent. Jeffrey and Brian enter into lengthy negotiations that last for nearly two months. Brian makes a final offer of 16,500 per month, inclusive of utilities to Jeffrey. Jeffrey, in a phone call to Brian, tells him that 'I'm ok with the P16,500 and I think that we have an agreement, but the Managing Director (MD) is the official signatory for such transactions, however I do not foresee any issues.' Upon hearing this, Brian removes all adverts of the house and as he has believed he has an agreement with Jeffrey. The MD of Bank BCD refuses to sign the lease as he believes that the house does not represent any value for the bank and has requested that Jeffrey should find a house that is more suitable. Upon receiving the news, Brian is furious and believes that he had an agreement with Jeffrey and is thinking of suing Jeffrey for payment of two months rental. Advise Brian
