In May 2018 John experienced serious health problems. He was unable to work while recovering from health issues and his doctor advised him to postpone the wedding. On June1st, 2018 John and Julie asked Royalton Banquet Hall if they could postpone the wedding date because of John's sickness. The couple offered to rebook the wedding reception and also offered to add one extra event to the booking a (Bridal Shower). This additional booking would provide the Banquet Hall with an additional $8,000 over the original cost.
Royalton Banquet hall refused to accept this new proposal and kept the $10,000 deposit and sued the couple for half of the full cost of the postponed wedding.
