John is a worker in Baptist Care organisation. He has recently finished trialling a program for people who are long term unemployed. The program included guest speakers from local businesses and industries; training for participants in interview skills, literacy and numeracy, using technology and volunteer work placements. He has completed the monitoring and review phase of the program and is reviewing the final report. This report highlights that while the program has been successful for some participants, there are some aspects that do not meet the needs of a particular group of participants because of cultural and social factors including: the inability of some participants to concentrate while learning new technology and literacy skills a lack of social skills while undertaking the volunteer work program frequent absences due to child care issues. To ensure the program continues to receive funding he decides he needs to revise these aspects to ensure that all participants can benefit from the program in the future here are his notes.
