In session, John elaborates that this is not the first time at work where he felt he experienced discrimination. A new employee with less skills and ability was promoted recently and John felt overlooked because he voiced to his manager that more training was needed in terms of culture in the office. Before the other employee was promoted, an African American woman who chooses to shave her hair was openly discussed by other staff in a meeting where the woman was not present. The staff laughed and joked about her being ill or "making a statement" with her choice. John was furious and approached his manager to intervene, and was told it was not an important enough issues to address at this time. This incident happened before the video and since then has felt humilated, isolated, and helpfuless.
