Jonathan, who had always wanted to write novel, finally got around to doing so during lockdown.In order to save money and ensure that he alone benefits from any profits, his best friend, Alison, is acting as his agent. She recently took a course on 'Introduction to Law for the layperson', and she has advised Jonathan that he needs to register copyright in the novel in order to stop other writers copying his work.As some of the novel is set in Italy, the bulk of the sales are expected to be Europe.Alison has suggested that he register the copyright separately in Europe.Jonathan also hopes that some film director might want to buy the rights to a movie of the novel. Alison, however has told him that he cannot give the copyright to anyone else.
