Judy attended college right after graduating from high school. Four years later she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, along with a teaching certificate. She was hired almost immediately by ABC Elementary School to teach fourth grade. During her first five years at ABC Elementary her annual evaluations were stellar, and she was regularly praised for her teaching by both her supervisors and the students' parents. In her fourth year of teaching Judy was selected as ABC's teacher of the year. At this time, she came to the realization that her true passion was to lead a school, so she set her sights on being a school principal. Both her principal and assistant principal enthusiastically recommended to the school district's leadership that she be considered for a leadership position if one became available within the school system.

A few weeks after the start of her fifth year of teaching, Judy's principal asked to meet with her after school. He informed her that one of her students' parents was very upset because she had seen a video of Judy, on Facebook, kissing another woman at an LBGTQ gathering. The parent asked to have her child removed from Judy's classroom. The principal refused the parents' request making it clear that the school takes diversity, equity, and inclusion very seriously and that this was part of its educational mantra. The parent was very upset with the principal's decision and contacted other parents within the school, seeking support for her request. She also argued that Judy should not be teaching at ABC.

You are the district superintendent, and you are preparing a recommendation for the school district's board of education.
