1. FormerFBI Director James Comey has referred to "the evil layer cake of Internet crime." Picture a layer case as a traditional wedding cake, with the smallest layer at the top. In Comey's metaphor, the worst crimes are at the top and the least serious are at the bottom. Is this the wedding cake a good metaphor for Internet crime? For example, should we assume that the least serious are also the most frequent? Which specific Internet crimes would you place at each layer.

2.Middle school is sometimes referred to as a minefield for both parents and students. Risk factors that were not present during pre-school or elementary school may emerge during these years. What new risk factors might be encountered, as well as how both parents/caretakers and adolescents can address them. Why conflicts with a sibling would result in more problem behavior in early adolescence?

3.The Hoffman report and the APA's subsequent response remain controversial, as you are undoubtedly are aware. Many psychologistsbut especially military psychologistsare requesting that the APA rethink its ban. Reasons for the ban on participation of psychologists in national security interrogations. Can you think of any benefits to having psychologists involved? Finally, it appears that psychologists named in the many documents thus far released did not directly interrogate detainees. If they devised interrogation tactics and suggested how far the interrogators could go, does that make them more or less blameworthy?

4. Research any one of the highly publicized incidents of police shooting of a black man. What are the relative merits of hostile attribution bias and racial bias as explanations for what occurred? What other psychological concepts could be applied to the situation?
