A good team leader possesses numerous qualities that contribute to the success and efficiency of their team. Two essential traits of an effective team leader and how these traits can possibly impact the team are effective communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Effective communication ensures that team members understand their roles, responsibilities, and overall objectives. Empathy and emotional intelligence are the abilities to understand and share the feelings of others. Emotional intelligence involves recognizing and managing one emotion and understanding how emotions impact others.
The model that best fits my organization is relational. The importance of this perspective is in the recognition that a team is composed of several individuals (Levi, 2021). A relational model will best fit my organization for healthcare due to unique characteristics and requirements of the healthcare industry. The relational model focuses on building strong, positive relationships between leaders and their team members, by promoting collaboration, open communication, and empathy. This is why it would be more effective due to the trust built within the team.
Two traits of a good team follower are active listening and adaptability. Good team followers play a crucial role in the success and effectiveness of a team. They possess certain qualities that contribute to the team's productivity. When listening is a vital quality of a good team follow up it involves fully concentrating on what is being said or going on. Also known as adaptability, it is the capacity to adjust to changes in circumstances, new challenges, and different team dynamics.

Leaders play a vital role in the performance of a team. According to Levi and Askay (2021), team members' tasks and activities are interdependent and coordinated by the leaders. This implies that the effectiveness and functioning of a team depends on its leaders. However, team leaders must possess specific traits to be effective. Among the different characteristics, the two most important for team leaders are communication and problem-solving.
Communication is a vital trait for team leaders. Team leaders rely on communication to pass messages and exchange information with team members. Communication also enables leaders to establish relationships with team members. Problem-solving traits can contribute to the effectiveness of team leaders in different ways. Through problem-solving, team leaders can handle conflicts or disagreements among members.
Communication and problem-solving traits of leaders can be helpful for a team. For example, communication traits of leaders can increase team productivity by ensuring that goals are clear and well-defined. Communication traits of leaders can also boost the productivity of teams by enabling leaders to provide direction to team members. On the other hand, problem-solving traits can allow team leaders to promote productivity by reducing conflicts and facilitating collaboration.
In the future, I would like to affiliate myself with a healthcare organization. Among the different leadership models outlined in Section 10.3 of the textbook, the situational leadership model is ideal for a healthcare organization. The situational leadership model can be effective in a healthcare organization as it is flexible and allows them to change their styles according to the prevailing circumstances. According to Levi and Askay (2021), situational leadership theory enables leaders to decide the best way to act, depending on the features of their team. Therefore, using the situational leadership model, leaders can switch from transformational to democratic to autocratic to transactional leadership styles, and vice-versa, depending on the prevailing conditions.
