You are an administration coordinator for WAMCo Pty Ltd, a large civil construction company located in Sydney. Health and safety (WHS) is a critical aspect of WAMCo's operations, and a Health and Safety Committeee (HSC) meeting is normally held every three months. However, due to several recent safety incidents involving falls from heights on WAMCo building sites, resulting in serious injury to the affected workers, Julia Hazard, the Risk and Safety Manager, has instructed you to organise an extraordinary meeting of the HSC. The meeting will be of three hours duration. The participants will be, as usual, Ms. Hazard (chair), yourself (minutes), the WHS coordinator, and a health and safety representative (HSR) from each of the six current WAMCo building sites. As well, a consultant from SafeWork NSW will be attending the meeting, in order to give a slide presentation on the specific kinds of WHS issues that WAMCo has been experiencing. The trade union has also asked to send a representative to the meeting. Ms. Hazard has told you that she would like the following topics to be covered in the meeting: confirmation of the minutes of the last meeting; reports from the HSRs on progress in implementing risk controls agreed on in the last meeting; reports from the HSRs on any new issues; report from the WHS coordinator on state of Workcover investigation of a recent incident; presentation by Safe Work NSW consultant; general discussion of recent incidents involving falls from heights; actions to be taken to improve WAMCO's management of working at heights. Due to the urgent nature of the improvements needed, Ms. Hazard would like another meeting scheduled for two weeks after the present meeting. Each attendee will need to receive {they can be sent as email attachments) a copy of the agenda and a copy of the WAMCo WHS Management System (WHSMS) document. The WHSMS can be found under Additional Documents. There are three rooms at WAMCo head office available for the meeting: 0 Room 121 can sit ten people comfortably, and is audiovisually equipped 0 Room 125 can sit twelve people comfortably, and is not audiovisually equipped 0 Room 253 can sit fifteen people comfortably, and is audiovisually equipped You have established that Tuesday a.m. would be a good time for all attendees.
