NAME: Pamela Harrison SEX: Female MARITAL STATUS: Married HOME: 2-bedroom ground floor apartment in Kogarah.
Pamela Harrison is a 70-year-old woman. She was born in Australia to Australian parents. She was raised by her father after her mother died when Pamela was 6 years old from an asthma attack. She has a younger sister Patricia who is 67. They have always been close as their father was distant and depressed, drinking a lot after losing his wife and becoming a single parent to the young girls. He died when they were both in their early 20s from suicide.
Pamela married Charles when she was 24 years old, after her father died. They lived all over the world as Charles was in the armed services. Pamela was unable to have children, but she did not mind as this made it easier for her to see the world. She never had any formal employment, but she often taught English to the locals wherever she and Charles lived. She often traded English lessons for lessons in the local language instead of money, so she speaks several languages, some nearly fluently. She and Charles loved swimming in local pools and rivers and oceans anywhere they lived but Pamela is now frightened to go swimming alone.
Pamela is 170cm tall and 53kg. She does not take any regular medications. She enjoys walking their small dog twice a day. She cooked when her husband lived at home, but she never enjoyed cooking, so she often just makes a sandwich and a cup of tea for dinner now. She has always had a housekeeper/cleaner who comes twice a week to assist work cleaning, shopping & other domestic duties.
Charles was diagnosed with dementia 4 years ago and he moved to a residential aged care facility in Miranda soon after that as his wandering and agitation as well as continence issues was more than Pamela could manage in their home without support. She misses him terribly but acknowledges he is very well cared for. She visits him twice a week on the bus as she can no longer drive and does not own a car. He does not always remember who she is which makes her very sad.
She loves spending time with her sister Patricia who moved to a rural town in northern NSW 2 years ago after retiring. Patricia lives with her husband and their youngest son William who is in his mid-forties and has Down Syndrome, they also have two other children who still live in Sydney.
