Kendall Making the most of your KLLP Life Languages Profile Character-Based Communication Thank you for taking the Kendall Life Languages Profile (KLLP). We have no doubt it can help you to truly understand yourself and others and be more successful in all your communication. By building on the productive character qualities of your primary and descending Life Languages, and working to overcome the non-productive ones, you can demonstrate Character-Based Communication. Understanding the LIFE Languages and applying this knowledge can positively and dramatically change your relationships forever. Overview of the LIFE Languages There are 7 Life Languages divided into three Categories: Emotive, Cognitive, and Kinetic. Kinetic Speakers of Kinetic Languages generally respond to life, people, stress, and values first through action then with their heart or head Mover Direct, Assertive, Ambitious, Pioneering, Courageous, and Standard Bearer Doer Dedicated, Observant, Diligent, Practical, Efficient, and Responsible Cognitive Emotive Speakers of Emotive Languages generally respond to life, people, stress, and values first heart, then with their head or actions Responder Compassionate, Passionate, Sensitive, Warm, Protective, and Verbal Influencer Diplomatic, Optimistic, Relational, Persuasive, and Intuitive Speakers of Cognitive Languages generally respond to life, people, stress, and values first with their head then heart or actions Shaper Organized, Visionary, Focused, Delegating, Strategic, and Efficient Contemplator Inquisitive, Reflective, Sensitive, Peaceful, Calm, and Complex Producer Gracious, Thoughtful, Responsible, Philanthropic, and Resourceful Please carefully consider the following do's and don'ts as you review your KLLP. The Intensity score reveals the strength, energy and passion shown in communication. The higher the Intensity score, the higher the drive to communicate. High Intensity is often an indication of someone who will fight for their opinion to be considered and to exercise control, (whether directly or indirectly) and will do more to maintain communication and relationships. They may also be more prone to conflict. High Intensity persons tend to draw attention, which can create an image of an individualistic personality. Lower Intensity scores indicate those who generally do not compete to be heard, although they may have valuable contributions to make and are sometimes overlooked or ignored. The chart above gives your intensity on each language as well as your overall intensity. Language Intensity Each Life Language has it's own individual intensity. The strength of the intensity score reveals the level of energy for that specific Life Language. In the final anaylsis, overall intensity score is more of a determinant on the forcefulness of an individual's communication. Gap Gap is the distance between two different Life Languages. We measure the gap between the nearest two Life Languages. The greater the gap, the more effort it takes to move from one Life Language to the other. The smaller the gap, the easier it is to move between the two Life Languages. Your Accumulated Range: Low Your RANGE SCORE is considered LOW. The RANGE GAP between your primary and secondary language scores is considered LOW. Range is the difference between your Primary and Seventh Life Languages. A high or low score is neither better nor worse, though very meaningful. A High Range means that the individual tends to stand out in his or her Primary language and has a more definable behavior and communication style; however, that individual may have more difficulty communicating with those who speak his or her weaker languages.A Low Range may mean that the individual tends to communicate easily with all the languages, but may be less predictable and understandable to others, and sometimes even to themselves. The failure to understand range is one of the primary causes of communication difficulties. You will also want to look at the range (gap) between each language and how the range increases with each descending language to give you the above score. You are naturally optimistic, look for positive life examples, and are motivated by positive relationships, thoughts, and situations. You are usually not a \"status quo\" person, nor do you tend to cling to the past. Rather, you are forward thinking. You look forward to the next phase of your life and generally believe that you have more to look forward to than to look back upon. About 13% of the population speaks Influencer as their Primary Life Language. Worldwide As an Influencer, relationships are extremely important to you, and people are usually much more important than possessions or accomplishments. You are sociable and therefore like interactive relationships and good communication. Because communication is easy for you, most people are comfortable with you, and you can easily draw others into conversations. You are likely very verbally skilled. You tend to organize your words and edit your thoughts, ideas, and feelings continuously as you are talking. Often you are not even aware of what you are going to say until you say it, but because you are highly intuitive and mentally agile, you pull this off very well. Influencers access both their feelings and thinking processes very rapidly. This causes you to have a logical dimension to understand others, sum up a situation, and see necessary steps of action. Those who only see Influencers as life's \"cheer leaders\" may miss the wisdom of their logic. You are tactful, charming, and diplomatic. Communicating is essential to you and involves more than just words. It is the total way in which you reach out and connect with others by understanding them and being understood by them. In your eagerness to communicate, you may interrupt and complete the thoughts and sentences of others. You are comfortable expressing your thoughts, feelings, dreams, visions, ideas, love, care, and appreciation. Usually your natural ability to influence and persuade others is working in you whether you are aware of it or not. This also adds to your excellent communication skills. If others don't look beyond your enthusiasm to see your depth of wisdom, they will be missing a rewarding aspect of your communication style. The Influencer Icon Each icon reveals the story of that Life Language. You will see the characteristics designed within the picture. If the icon was all you had, you could study it and understand a great deal about the particular communication style of that Life Language. Name - The design of the Name indicated how this Life Language does in relationships and careers. The name "Influencer" is slanted upward, as Influencers tend to move up in social relationships, their careers, and lives, often because of their diplomacy, tact, and persuasiveness. Category - In the center of the Influencer icon is a red heart, representing that they belong to the Emotive (or Feeling) Category. Confetti and Fireworks - The confetti and fireworks at the top of the icon represent celebration and fun. Influencers tend to enjoy life. They are "people people" who have a love for life and enjoy celebrating it. This makes them enjoyable to be around. They are seldom bored or boring. Two Clasped Hands - The hand shake symbolizes relationships and creating agreement. Relational Influencers tend to have many friends and acquaintances due to their friendly personalities. Quill and Pallet - The quill and artist's pallet symbolize the creativity of Influencers. They are usually good at either creating or appreciating music, poetry, art, sculpture, books, architecture, decorating, dance, and so forth. Agreement - Influencers like to bring agreement between individuals and groups represented by the word \"agreement\" on the papers. Influencers are persuasive and can get signed contracts. They think \"winwin.\" Horizontal Lines - The background of horizontal lines is symbolic of the Influencer's ability to see logical solutions to life's situations, which often surprises others. Color - The primary color of the Influencer is "Bright" Yellow, which is the color that most symbolizes their sunny characteristics. Influencer Influencer Keys for Success Filter \"Are we communicating?\" Need Affirmation & Connectedness Passion To Encourage Key Character Strength Enthusiasm Filter Each Life Language has an internal filter which screens incoming and outgoing communication. This internal filter is like wearing colored glasses. Influencer's color is sunny "Bright" Yellow, so imagine that you see the world through that color's sensitive filter. The Influencer's Filter is, \"Are We Relating?\" As an Influencer, being connected to others is very important to you socially, professionally, and personally. You intuitively know how to relate to others, have excellent people skills and find people enjoyable. You focus on positive characteristics in others. Most people enjoy being around you. As an Influencer, you can choose to make a conscious paradigm shift and turn the filter question into a more positive filter statement of celebration saying, \" You are important to me, whether we relate or not.\" Remember the filters of others are important for you to learn, use, and appreciate. Need From Others - Affirmation and Connectedness Each Life Language has needs that are met through personal and professional relationships. When our needs are met, we experience fulfillment and contentment. As you learn to understand yourself, you can learn how to meet others' needs and help them to meet yours. Influencers feel loved, valued, and motivated by being Connected and receiving Affirmation from others. As an Influencer, you naturally and freely give encouragement and affirmation to others. You tell others things like, \"Good job,\" \"I think you are great,\" \"That was a wonderful meal,\" and \"I really appreciate you.\" You appreciate hearing sincere, encouraging, uplifting, and heartfelt words of affirmation from others. Passion - To Encourage Passion is the spark that makes your life worth living. There is a Passion (or Major Desire) that motivates each Life Language and gives direction to their communication style. The Influencer's Passion is To Encourage. You naturally encourage and motivate others to become all that they can be. You look for the best in life and in others and encourage them to grow into their potential. In finding a vocation or avocation, it would be good for you to make sure that it affords you the opportunity to use your people skills and to positively impact others through encouragement. Key Character Strength - Enthusiasm Each Life Language has many character strengths, but there is one that is their primary or Key Character Strength. Generally, it is the character strength that is most pronounced in that person. For the Influencer it is Enthusiasm, defined as; \"Passionate interest, eagerness, and exciting involvement. They have gusto and zest for life, others, and activities.\" Influencers share their gift and lift the lives of those fortunate enough to know them.
