Lab 1 Math 10 Fall 2021

On page 2 of this assignment you will find a (numbered) list of 135 cities and towns in the US. You

are going to use the online random number generator to select a random sample of 20 cities and

towns. (Of course, different students will get different samples- that is not a problem.)

To complete this assignment you need to do the following:

1. Sign on to the online random number generator

https://www.calculator.net/random-number-

generator.html. You can find it on Canvas under Modules/Online Calculators/Random

Number Generator.

2. Use the "upper" of the two tools, "Random Number Generator". Input the Lower Limit (1) and

the Upper Limit (135) then click on "Generate". You will get a number between 1 and 135.

3. Record the number and corresponding city that you got. For example, if the number that came

up was 7, record "7 Philadelphia".

4. Repeat step 3 until you have a sample of size 20. Remember, different students will get a

different sample, and that is OK.

5. Submit a list of 20 cities that make up your sample, with both number and city name.

6. It's easy!

List of cities is on the next page.
