Beats (Oscilloscope)

Purpose

  • To determine the beat frequency of a wave.
  • To write a beat equation to describe this wave.

Motivation

When two separate harmonic waves that are close in frequency superpose, the resulting wave form will have a modulating amplitude called a beat.
