LAB REPORT (Question style) Using the data collected on your subject, answer the questions below: Questions: 1. Plot the heart rate, VE, VCO2, and VO2 against workrate, using the data for the last minute of each exercise intensity (one graph per variable) (20 pts.) 2. Discuss the relationship between each of these variables with respect to workrate. For each variable discuss whether it has a linear or curvilinear relationship to exercise intensity (i.e. workrate). Explain these relationships. (20 pts.) 3. What does RER data tell you regarding fuel selection during exercise? Discuss what the RER data that you measured during this test tells you about the fuels used during this test. (20 pts.) 4. Estimate the workrate that would be required to produce a VO2 equal to 75% of our Subject's VO2max. Estimate the heart rate associated with this workrate. In a table, report the VO2max, 75% of VO2max, the heart rate at 75% VO2max, and the workrate necessary to reach this heart rate. Does the workrate necessary to produce a VO2 equal to 75% of VO2max produce a heart rate that is equal to 75% of maximal heart rate? (20 pts.) 5. What are factor(s) that affect the validity of the VO2max test? In other words, how do you know that a subject reaches his or her VO2max? Discuss the difference between VO2max and peak VO2. How confident are you that our subject reached VO2max? Justify your level of confidence. (20 pts.)
