Land Law

Dougal Austin, a dealer on the Antiques Roadshow in the UK, was presented with a very light green hei-tiki. The woman, Sybil Jones, found the hei-tiki while digging in her garden back in Auckland. Dougal immediately tells Sybil that these items are of particular interest to collectors of tribal art - and it represents either an ancestor or a god. Dougal says the hei-tiki is of significant interest because it is made of a lighter than average colour for New Zealand Jade. Dougal tells Sybil that the hei-tiki is in excellent condition, considering it is at least 200 years old and is worth between 12,000 - 15,000.

When Dougal quizzes Sybil about she brought it to the UK - Sybil is reluctant to answer.
